Home Decor & Beauty Haul

Hi friends! It’s been quite a while since I’ve been active on my blog and that is mainly because I have been focusing more on making videos over on my YouTube! I am hoping to have a better balance this year between videos and blog posts, so hopefully I can do that!

If you are interested in videos, definitely subscribe over there and I will try to remember to always post them here too, haha. I’ve been working a lot behind the scenes on tons of organizing around the house, and have several organization videos coming soon! Today I have a bit of a collective haul with some things I got for the house and a few non-toxic beauty products too. I hope you enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions! 🙂

My Self-Care Routine: Relaxing Bath Edition

Recently I have been stepping up my self-care with an awesome new addition: taking bubble baths!! So I thought I would share my self-care routine: relaxing bath edition!

Our new house has this amazing garden tub in it. And I was so excited about it when we moved it because I love it when there is a dedicated bathtub. When it is separate from the shower because I feel like it’s so much easier to keep it clean!

I had been meaning to get around to taking a relaxing bubble bath in here ever since we moved in a year and a half ago but never got around to it! You see, I’m not really someone who takes the time to take a bath! It’s not that I don’t like them, I just never make the time for it.

My holy grail natural and non-toxic beauty products

Since becoming more aware of the toxic ingredients found in a lot of conventional beauty products about 4-5 years ago, I have been trying a ton of different natural and non-toxic makeup and skincare! Of course, reviews have been super helpful in finding the best things to try. But one thing I have learned for sure is that everyone is different and their skincare and haircare needs are going to vary a lot from each other. So finding the things that have worked great for my particular needs has been kind of a long journey! My skin type is combination. It’s also very sensitive and extremely acne-prone with a lot of post-acne scarring to heal. When it comes to foundation, I prefer a matte finish. My hair type is somewhat fine, naturally wavy and frizzes very easily, especially in the humidity!

How I cleared my acne and improved my acne scars!

Ever since I was 14, I have struggled with acne. I thought it was really bad back then, as a self-conscious teenager and young adult but when I turned about 24 it turned into a different kind of acne, adult acne. This was the kind that was cystic, deeply painful and the worse part was it left behind absolutely horrible scars. It was very debilitating and I really struggled with it. It has been quite the journey to figure all this out, and I am so happy that I finally see some light at the end of the tunnel!

Something I always swore I would do if I could ever find the elusive secret to clearing my highly problematic and acne-prone skin, is pass that info on to the rest of the world in case it could help even one person out there who is as desperate as I was for years and years to clear my skin up! Also, my biggest frustration when I was desperate for help with my acne and researching ways to help it online was that so many links I clicked on promising the cure were either scammy or an e-book that costs money. I feel like this info should be easily accessible for anyone who is desperate for help, and not some top secret you can only find out when you spend money on some book that may or may not help you. Audible: This was my all time favorite discovery of 2017 because of how much power it has to change my mindset and my life! Obviously, I have heard people talk about using audible for a long time now but it took me forever to jump on the bandwagon. Now I’m IN LOVE. Reading is one of my favorite things in life, and because I have been keeping myself busy recently on other things, I never make the time to actually sit down and read a physical book. But I also had this huge list of recommendations from my friends and things I was intrigued to read too, so I decided to do it in a way where I can also be multi-tasking and completing my mundane tasks at the same time. I will do a whole post soon with more details of why I love Audible so much and my favorite books. It is well worth the money!! Continue reading “Beauty & Lifestyle Favorites of 2017”

Last Empties Post: Part 2

It’s time for the second part of my last beauty and body product empties post! I have decided to replace these types of posts with Monthly Favorites instead. I am excited to start bringing you all my favorite products I am loving each month. I am thinking it will include not just beauty products, but also lifestyle faves. Can’t wait!

last empties: part 2

Here is the last round up of all the empties I have been collecting for quite a while! Life got a bit crazy when we moved to our new house, so it got kind of put on hold for a while. Here you go!  Continue reading “Last Empties Post: Part 2”

Last Empties Post: Part 1

The last of the empties huh? How’s that for being mysterious?! Why is this my last empties post you ask? Well, honestly I have decided that they aren’t my favorite way to highlight the products I have been loving recently. While waiting till a product is empty to give a review is a pretty good gauge of if it works for you or not, I would say I am disappointed more frequently than I am thrilled with the products I try. I don’t think I am super picky or anything, but it is just kind of difficult to find new favorites in the world of mostly natural products. Not that any of them are bad per se, they just don’t always work for me.

last empties: part 1

I like to focus more on the positives and wins than I do the fails. So…I am excited to start bringing Monthly Favorites to the blog instead! I love watching/reading monthly fave round-ups so I think they will be super fun to do. And then I will be sharing all the things I actually love! I think that will be a way more effective way to share the things I truly recommend. I am thinking of doing more than just beauty and skincare, but also lifestyle faves, books, shows, anything I am into at the moment each month. We will see! The prettiest makeup brushes

The Prettiest Makeup Brushes

Would you believe that at 33 years old, a life-long beauty aficionado, I just recently bought my first proper set of makeup brushes? Crazy right? I always thought they seemed really over-rated and I just put my foundation on with my fingers. But I did start getting curious since all the beauty gurus seem to use brushes to achieve that perfect finish. So I started looking for the perfect set of brushes probably about 2 years ago now. But just like how I am a sucker for pretty product packaging, I wanted the brushes to not only be functional but beautiful too. To be able to display on a vanity and look pretty and elegant. I thought I had found the perfect set a while back with the Tarte Brushed with Destiny brushes, but they were limited edition and sold out before I could get them!

I am glad that didn’t work out though, since I am obsessed with all things in blush tones and I found these Rose Golden ones from Zoeva! They aren’t blush exactly, the handles are called “nude” in the product description. And they are slightly more light apricot than blush when I saw them in person, but they are still BEAUTIFUL and I love them so much! Continue reading “The prettiest makeup brushes”

Empties: Holy Grail Product!

Empties: Holy Grail Product

So for my last post in the empties series for a while, I only have 1 item, but it’s a biggie! I don’t use the term ‘Holy Grail’ very often for the simple reason that I very rarely find them! So when I come across something that I really love it is that much more special since I feel like I try so many different things before I find something that is truly a game-changer for me.

I am completely in love with the 100 Percent Pure Vanilla Bean Whipped Body Butter! Their body butter was something I had read good reviews on and had wanted to try for a while but the price point for a relatively small size made it a splurge buy for sure. That is the biggest con I was reading in the reviews, that everyone wished you got more for the price. But I am so glad that I tried it because I am head over heels for this stuff! So let me tell you exactly what I LOVE so much about it! Continue reading “Empties: Holy Grail Product!”

Empties: Face & Body Products

Empties: face and body productsMore empties, this time all my face & body products!

Acure Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes (x4!): So I am sure some people would be horrified to hear this, but these have been my main face washing product for a while now. On the nights I take my makeup off with only these, I use 2 of them. That’s why I have gone through so many packets! It’s not perfect, but right now it does a pretty good job while I wait for the new cleanser I bought to get here. These are GREAT for those nights where you are trying to be good and wash your makeup off, but are way too tired to do a whole skin regimen. My skin honestly looks better the morning after I use these than it tends to when I use facewash, which is very interesting to me. I have been wondering if it is the lack of water, because maybe my water isn’t that great? Anyways, I plan to get a shower filter very soon which will hopefully help with skin issues too. I do alternate between using these and washing my face with the One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil since that is what really helps my pore congestion. I will say more about that cleanser when it is empty! 🙂 Continue reading “Empties: Face & Body Products”
